DOES YOUR TRASH BILL FLUCTUATE?

A typical trash contract is full of loopholes, added fees, and confusing text. Trash haulers are trying to squeeze as much money out of you as possible. They will do this with added fees and surcharges, inefficient scheduling, unnecessary container types, contract loopholes and more. With over a decade of experience in the industry, The Trash Consultant knows the trash world inside and out!

TRASH FEES ARE RUBBISH

Take a look at your trash invoices. Do you see any of these added fees?

  • Fuel and or Energy Surcharge
  • Regulatory Cost Recovery Charge
  • Environmental Charge
  • Recycle Material Offset
  • Customer Service Assisted Payment Charge
  • Admin Fee
  • Container Refresh
  • Container Exchange Charge

Your trash company may claim that these fees are an attempt for transparency on your invoice. They’ll have an explanation and an excuse for why each is needed. It may or may not make sense to you, but since you have agreed through contract to pay any and all fees, it won’t matter. Truth is, if the fees were an attempt at transparency, their base rate would be much lower than companies who don’t use fees.

What exactly does Base Rate mean? Simply put, the Base Rate is your fixed monthly fee for service. As long as you don’t request a change in your services, the base rate will remain the same every month. The added fees will fluctuate from month to month resulting in varying invoice totals.  Since the fees are a percentage of your base rate and tied to consumer indexes your monthly bill fluctuate. It will come to a point where you’ll be used to seeing your trash bill amount change every month. This is exactly what your trash service provider wants. Once you are unsure of exactly what you will pay every month, they gain the ability to pass incremental price increases on each of the fees and the base rate without raising any eyebrows.

The Trash Consultant understands the trash management game. He works for you and only you. He receives no commission or incentives from trash haulers. His fee is proportional to the money he saves YOU.
