NAVIGATING YOUR TRASH CONTRACT

Waste removal companies hope that you sign your contract without review. If you should review it, they have made the wording so complicated that it’s near impossible to understand unless you have prior knowledge in the trash hauling industry.

YOU’RE TRAPPED IN AUTO-RENEW AND DON’T EVEN KNOW IT

You signed a 36-month contract. Normally you would expect services to end after month 36. Most likely, that 36-month contract you signed also has you legally bound for another 36 months via auto-renew. Which means your trash hauling does not come to a halt at the end of your contract. If you’re unhappy with your trash hauler and want to end the services, it’s going to take a lot more than knowing a contract end date to get you out of it. Take a look at some of the hurdles you’ll have to jump in order to end your contract for good.

YOU’LL PAY FOR NOT REVIEWING YOUR CONTRACT

Your trash hauler is taking advantage of you and you want out! Let’s talk about ending your contract. You signed a 36-month contract and three months before your contract is up, you decide that you don’t want to renew their services. It’s too bad that most trash haulers don’t think 3 months is ample time to warn them that you will not be renewing. Somewhere deep in the terms and conditions of your contract, you have agreed that you will let them know you are not renewing prior to three months but no sooner than 6 months before the contract is up. You have a 90 day window of opportunity.

What happens if you don’t make that window? You’ll pay for it of course!

No matter how close or far you are to the contract termination date, call The Trash Consultant. You don’t want to miss your window of opportunity.

JUMP THROUGH THESE HOOPS AND LOOPS!

You have found the window of opportunity hidden in your contract and you’ve made it! You think you can give your trash service provider a quick call and be done with it. NO.

Once again, somewhere in your contract you have agreed to a process of cancellation. You’re most likely going to have to send TWO letters. One cancelling renewal which, unbeknownst to you, you have already agreed to, and another letter for dumpster retrieval. Slap a stamp on those bad boys and send them out the door. You’re done…right? Wrong. A simple stamp will not do! Your trash management company wanted those to be sent via CERTIFIED MAIL and they told you that somewhere in the too-small-to-read print of your contract!

What happens if you don’t follow the too-small-to-read print of your contract and directions? You’ll find yourself paying for month-to-month or worse another 36 months. That large bill for your contracted trash pick up is nothing compared to what you’ll be paying after you fail to follow the complicated cancellation process!
